Precipitation Frequency Data Server (PFDS)

Screen capture from the Precipitation Frequency Data Server

Access precipitation frequency estimates for precipitation depth or intensity as tables, graphs, or GIS layers for any location in the contiguous United States.

Narrative

NOTICE: Due to flooding that occurred at the Silver Spring data center on March 9, 2021, precipitation frequency estimates will not be available through the Precipitation Frequency Data Server (PFDS) until further notice. Teams are working to resolve the issues.

In the meantime, you may post queries to hdsc.questions@noaa.gov (the NOAA Atlas 14 official email address for any public inquiry).

The NOAA Hydrologic Design Studies Center (HDSC) will try to provide alternative options to support your data request, but cannot guarantee that all requests can be accommodated. Thank you for your patience.

The Precipitation Frequency Data Server (PFDS) is a point-and-click interface developed to deliver NOAA Atlas 14 precipitation frequency estimates and associated information.

To access point precipitation frequency estimates, select precipitation depth or intensity. Choose a state, and then select a station, or adjust the crosshair on the map. Data tables and graphs appear directly below the map. Links to supplementary information (such as ASCII grids of estimates, associated temporal distributions of heavy rainfall, time series data at observation sites, cartographic maps, etc.) are also available.

Links to additional information related to precipitation frequency are available in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen.
