Resource managers can use tools in this system to explore climate-based risks and opportunities for loblolly pine growth in planted forests in the southeastern U.S.
PINEMAP—which stands for "Pine Integrated Network: Education, Mitigation, and Adaptation Project"—contains 13 tools related to planted loblolly pine forests in the southeastern United States across four categories: Environment, Establishment, Management, and Production.
The decision support system is focused on helping foresters understand how their pine forests will be affected by future climate, focusing on temperature and precipitation changes. Each tool provides an interactive, searchable map with layers of data for either historical observed, projected change, and projected average. Time-scale projections go as far in the future as the year 2099 and are available in 20-year increments, and two emissions scenarios are provided.
The low-effort tool is for use by beginner- to intermediate-level tool users.
